Alterations & Custom Sewing was founded by Cindy Weir in 1981 in the old downtown historic district of Excelsior Springs.  Since that time the business has grown steadily for nearly thirty years and has moved progressively to larger and more modern accommodations.

Our mission is to provide customers with quality service at a reasonable price. Our attention to detail assures customer satisfaction with their experience and the fit, comfort and appearance of their clothing.

No job is too big or too small. From sewing buttons to outfitting a bridal party with our staff of professional seamstresses, we can fulfill your requirements. We work with all types of clothing from minor seam repairs to weight loss wardrobe adjustments.

We also provide assistance with your creative ideas on custom sewing projects.  T-shirt quilts are one of our specialties. We have also done jobs as diverse as a tuxedo for a llama. We make decorator pillows and curtains for those who can't find the right fabric or style in ready made products.

Our shop includes a large, clean, well lit and fully equipped work area with an extensive inventory of notions and a complete complement of professional power machines and equipment to handle any alteration or repair quickly and efficiently. 

Our client list over the years has grown to include walk in customers as well as many commercial accounts such as Dry Cleaners, Bridal Shops, Department Stores and Specialty Clothing Stores.

Specialties include Bridal Gowns, Prom  Dresses and Tuxedo Rentals by Jim's Formal Wear.
